Countywide food drive set for Saturday

A “Neighbors Helping Neighbors & Scouting for Food” drive-thru food collection to benefit the San Diego Food Bank is planned for Saturday at more than a dozen sites around the county.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is organizing the donation drive for the Food Bank’s COVID-19 Response programs, with volunteer help from church members and local Boy Scouts.

The Food Bank distributes food to more than 600,000 people each month. Items most needed are dry and canned beans; cereal; rice; nuts and seeds; peanut butter; canned soup; canned and dried fruit; canned vegetables; powdered milk; and infant formula. The church’s Just Serve website is helping to organize and promote the event. Visit
