A family of five was displaced early Monday when a fire tore through the garage of their Carlsbad home, sending smoke into the house.
The fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. at the two-house on Circulo Sequoia near Avenida Amapola.
When firefighters got there, they found an attached garage engulfed in flames, said Carlsbad Assistant Fire Chief Nick Ordille.
Crews were able to keep the blaze contained to the garage although there was some smoke damage to the house, Ordille said. The Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced family.
The cause remains under investigation. A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available.
About 21 firefighters from Encinitas and San Marcos assisted Carlsbad firefighters with putting out the fire. No injuries were reported.
