No. 9 Eastlake at Poway

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Eastlake (1-0) scored a 10-6 opening-week win over Steele Canyon. Trey White scored the TD and Jayden Cortell had a pair of interceptions. The defense pitched a shutout with Steele Canyon’s score coming on an interception. Poway (0-1) lost a 14-10 decision to Granite Hills with the winning score coming with 2:16 remaining. The Titans generated just 86 yards total offense.

Prediction: Eastlake 17, Poway 14

Patrick Henry at Mt. Carmel

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Henry (1-0) had a big opener, beating Mount Miguel 42-7 with QB Tobias Harris completing 16 passes with three going for scores. Mt. Carmel (1-0) also had a big opener, beating Central Union 33-17 in Drew Westling’s debut as Sundevils head coach. Mt. Carmel QB Cayden Gent threw for 239 yards and 3 TDs, 2 of those going to Conor Bananal, the other to Luke Sevier.

Prediction: Mt. Carmel 31, Patrick Henry 27

Scripps Ranch at La Jolla

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Scripps Ranch (1-0) laid 56 points on San Pasqual last week, the most points against a San Pasqual defense since 1972. Scripps Ranch rolled up 453 hyards with QB Jax Leatherwood throwing for 268 yards and 3 TDs. RB Jalen Shaw scored 3 TDS. La Jolla (1-0) beat Bishop’s 42-3 with QB Jackson Stratton throwing for 364 yards and 4 TDs and running for another. WRs Mason Powers and Ryan Weinberg combined for 16 catches for 291 yards and all 4 TDs. This game is a rematch of the 2019 San Diego Section Division III championship game, won by La Jolla 17-10.

Prediction: Scripps Ranch 35, La Jolla 34

San Diego at Crawford

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: San Diego (1-0) opened the season with a bang, shutting out Vincent Memorial 55-0. Crawford (0-1) opened with a 28-7 loss to Mar Vista and had 197 yards rushing, including 88 by Gavin Nguyen.

Prediction: San Diego 28, Crawford 24

Sweetwater at Coronado

When: 6:30 p.m., today

Preview: Sweetwater (0-1) rushed for 138 yards in an opening-week loss to Grossmont and got interceptions from Adrian Guerrero and Javier Sanchez. The Red Devils didn’t throw a pass. Coronado (0-1) dropped a 10-7 decision to Santana in OT. The game was scoreless after three quarters with Santana winning on a FG in OT after holding the Sultans on downs.

Prediction: Coronado 28, Sweetwater 21

San Marcos at Mira Mesa

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: San Marcos (0-1) had eight players catch passes in a 33-22 loss to Rancho Bernardo. QB Emmett Brown threw for 196 yards and 2 scores. Kaden Vonhout rushed 9 times for 110 yards and a 60-yard TD. Mira Mesa (0-1) dropped a 28-20 decision to Helix, rushing for just 3 yards. OLB Micha Vanta had 19 tackles, but Helix rushed for 273 yards.

Prediction: Mira Mesa 31, San Marcos 28

Montgomery at Santana

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Montgomery didn’t play last week. Santana (1-0) won a hard-fought 10-7 overtime game against Coronado. Trailing 7-0 in the fourth quarter, the Sultans got a 92-yard kickoff return from Dylan Anderson. After holding on downs in OT, Jackson Scott kicked the winning 24-yard FG.

Prediction: Santana 21, Montgomery 20

Madison at Steele Canyon

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Madison (0-1) dropped a 19-14 decision to a good Otay Ranch team, but the Warhawks defense gave up 315 yards total offense, 275 passing. Steele Canyon (0-1) lost 10-6 to No. 6 Eastlake. The Cougars had just 131 yards total offense, 102 rushing on 29 carries. The only score was 25-yard interception return by Spencer Campillo.

Prediction: Steele Canyon 28, Madison 21

Del Norte at University City

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Del Norte (1-0) beat Escondido 54-7 with QB Jack Schneider throwing for 173 yards and 4 TDs, 3 of those to Jonah Kang. Martin Hill rushed for 179 yards and 2 TDs and the Nighthawks piled up 440 yards total offense. University City (1-0) had its way with Fallbrook in a 48-7 win. QB Samuel Cooper threw for 312 yards and 4 TDs and rushed for 100 yards and 2 TDs on 6 carries.

Prediction: University City 31, Del Norte 20

When: 7 p.m., today

Preview: Mater Dei Catholic (1-0) had 702 yards total offense in a 53-21 win over Brawley. QB Dominic Nankil threw for 378 yards and 5 TDs and WR Jerry McClure caught 4 passes for 148 yards and 2 scores. Nico Mosley rushed for 158 yards and Anthony McMillan had 150. Westview (1-0) scored a 14-13 win over Olympian with QB Ryan Harrod throwing for 288 yards and 2 scores. Brady O’Brien caught 4 passes for 120 yards.
