Smart Fit studio opens locally
Father and son team Rob and Connor Darnbrough recently opened The Smart Fit Method gym, promising efficient 20-minute personal training sessions, using the latest technology. The science-based fitness program combines exercise robotics and artificial intelligence so members get personalized training sessions in just one hour a week. Rob Darnbrough sees Smart Fit as especially helpful to older customers, with a workout that improves strength without wear and tear on the joints. Nonprofit announces new executive director
Steve Morris has been named the new executive director for I Love A Clean San Diego, the 67-year-old environmental nonprofit. Morris, a Carlsbad resident, brings more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience combined with a passion for the environment. He has worked for several nonprofits, leading efforts in program growth, financial management, fundraising, staff development and building community relationships. Most recently, Morris was executive director at the Surfing Heritage and Culture Center in San Clemente, where he combined his love of surfing and nonprofit leadership experience. He also served as outdoor education program director at YMCA Camp Surf and as development director for the YMCA Overnight Camping Branch. Morris holds a master’s degree in nonprofit leadership and management from the University of San Diego. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business economics from UC Santa Barbara. Visit cleansd.org.

Ting Internet expanding in city
Ting Internet, a division of Tucows, has announced that its fiber Internet is now available in Encinitas, its fourth Southern California market. Ting prides itself on providing ultra-reliable Internet access and excellent customer support. It also provides customers with dedicated bandwidth, which guarantees higher speeds and reliable connectivity. Ting will be Encinitas’ first citywide fiber Internet provider. Job board aimed at fitness professionals
The San Diego-based American Council on Exercise offers a new job board for employers and ACE-certified health and exercise professionals. The ACE Job Board is available via the ACE website, careers.acefitness.org. The job board allows employers to easily post positions for health coaches, exercise professionals and professional management, quickly view candidate résumés and reach candidates who have access to the job board. In turn, exercise professionals can easily search opportunities and quickly apply for them, post résumés and links to social networks, videos and photos.
Chamber receives award for website
The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce was recently recognized with a Special Merit award for website excellence at the 2022 Western Association of Chamber Executives conference. The annual conference provides chamber professionals with programs and speakers designed to increase skills and overall knowledge of the chamber industry. Chamber CEO Scott Ashton and Workforce Development Coordinator Victoria Carlborg attended the three-day event. The website award was based on overall design, content and search engine optimization. Annual Heroes of Vista gala set for Friday
The Vista Chamber of Commerce and the Vista Education Foundation present the 11th annual Heroes of Vista gala starting at 4 p.m. Friday at The Vistonian, 306 S. Santa Fe Ave. The event celebrates excellence in education, business, public safety and more. Vista Mayor Judy Ritter, in her last year in office after serving 23 years for the city, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
