Contractors group installs new president

The Associated General Contractors of America, San Diego Chapter, Inc. recently installed its 2021 officers and board members. Mike Williamson, president of Pacific Coast Iron, became the 65th president in the group’s 94-year history, succeeding Bill Haithcock of Casper Company. Pacific Coast Iron is a progressive structural steel and miscellaneous iron fabricator and erector, serving Southern California government, commercial, residential and medical clients for 45 years. Bank aids more than 50 agencies in 2020

City National Bank recently announced its philanthropic performance in San Diego for 2020 and the charitable causes it supported. The bank contributed money and in-kind support of nearly $315,000 to more than 50 nonprofits, schools and community organizations in 2020. The bank also announced that its volunteers were still able to donate more than 1,600 hours of service through virtual volunteerism such as reading to students, teaching online financial literacy classes to K-12 students, board and committee virtual calls, packing and shipping school supplies to elementary schools, and more. Medical assistant program offered

Vista Community Clinic is preparing to accept applications for the 10th cohort of its Medical Assistant Training Program that will start in the summer. The program is a joint offering of the clinic and California State University San Marcos Extended Learning. Hands-on training, lectures and internships prepare students to work as medical assistants in doctors’ offices and health clinics. Students learn how to draw blood, administer injections, take vital signs, schedule lab tests and assist clinicians. The program’s $3,000 price puts a career in health care within reach for many, and includes the cost of textbooks. VCC also offers job placement support with the help of North County Works, and has hired a number of program graduates in its own facilities.
